Richard Brzostek - 04/07/2008 "Poszukiwany Poszukiwana" is a hilarious 1972 comedy by Stanislaw Bareja. The movie has a fairly original storyline. It is about a man who dresses up as a woman. The approach taken to this sensitive topic results in a hilarious film.
A man who works at an art gallery is blamed for a missing painting. Faced with spending his future in prison he decides to disappear by living disguised as a woman. It is hilarious to watch him learn to act properly and fit into a woman's world of cooking and cleaning.
Although much of the humor is based on his acting the part of a woman, there are hidden messages in the film. The scene with the man making his own homemade liquor and the director who cannot write his own speech hit on aspects of life that are real and can be funny. The movie has an all-around good story and is a lot of fun.
Although Bareja's catalogue of films may not be considered very large, they are exceptional. His 1981 film, "Mis" (Teddy Bear), is a very well known Polish comedy and perhaps the one he is most remembered for directing. His comedies, "Poszukiwany Poszukiwana" included, are remarkably funny and worth watching. |
